What Is Employer Sponsored Visas?

Skilled workers who are nominated by the employers based in Australia can apply for the Employer Sponsored Visas to live and work in Australia permanently. What Is Employer Sponsored Visas?

Subclass 482
The Subclass 482 Visa is a temporary skilled visa that enables an Australian employer to recruit and employ a skilled foreign worker for up to 4 years if the occupation is on the medium to long term list or two years if the occupation is on the short term list.

Employer Nomination Visa Subclass 186
If you wish to migrate to Australia for work, you can apply for one of the three types of Employer- Sponsored Visas.
  • Direct Entry stream – This option is appropriate for the applicant nominated by an Australian business, and the individual has worked in their nominated occupation for at least three years full time at the skill level, has a successful skills assessment and at least competent level English.
  • Labour agreement stream – Australian employers can apply to enter into a labour agreement with the Australian government. It enables approved businesses to sponsor skilled foreign workers who otherwise would not be eligible to apply under the standard visa programs.
  • Temporary Residence Transition stream – This option is preferred for skilled workers who hold a 457/TSS visa or bridging visa A, B or C. It is required that they have worked for their nominating employer for at least three years unless they qualify for an exemption.

Regional Employer Sponsored Subclass 494.
This visa was introduced on 16 November 2019, and its purpose is to address the skills shortages experienced by employers in regional areas. The visa is issued with a validity of 5 years, but the applicant can apply for permanent residency (subclass 191) after three years if they have complied with the subclass 494 visa.

Temporary Activities Subclass 408.
If you wish to migrate to Australia for work, you can apply for one of the three types of Employer- Sponsored Visas.
  • Special program- this visa allows the applicant to participate in approved special programs. These include youth exchange or community programs.
  • Religious Work- Allows an applicant to engage in religious work for up to 2 years.
  • Invited participants permit the visa applicant to travel to Australia to participate in community- based events.
  • Entertainment Activities- this visa is appropriate for those intending to work in the entertainment industry, including television, live productions or film.
  • Research activities- this visa permits the applicant to research at a tertiary institute for up to 2 years.
  • Domestic work for executives- this visa is granted for up to 2 years.
  • Sporting Activities- this visa permits the applicant to play, coach or participate in high-level training for up to 2 years.
  • Superyacht Crew- the applicant can remain in Australia for up to 12 months if working on a superyacht as a crew member.
  • Exchange Arrangements- allows you to come to Australia as part of a staff exchange with an Australian organisation. You can stay for up to 2 years.
  • Australian Government Endorsed Events- This allows you to come to Australia to participate in events endorsed by the Australian Federal Government. This visa lets you stay up to 4 years. A recent development is the introduction of the Covid 19 Pandemic event, which allows applicants to remain in Australia because they have no other options and cannot depart Australia due to the pandemic.
