What Is Employer Sponsored Visas?

Subclass 482: Temporary Skilled Visa

The Subclass 482 Visa, also known as the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa, allows Australian employers to recruit skilled foreign workers.

  • Medium to Long-Term Skilled Occupations: Visa validity up to 4 years.
  • Short-Term Skilled Occupations: Visa validity up to 2 years.


This visa provides a pathway for skilled professionals to contribute to Australia’s workforce while addressing critical skill shortages.

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (Subclass 186)
The Subclass 186 Visa is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian employer. It offers three streams to suit different circumstances:
  • For applicants nominated by an Australian business.
  • Requires at least 3 years of full-time work experience in the nominated occupation.
  • A successful skills assessment and competent English are mandatory.
  • For Australian employers who have entered into a labour agreement with the government.
  • Enables businesses to sponsor skilled foreign workers who don’t qualify under standard visa programs.
  • For skilled workers holding a Subclass 457, TSS Visa, or bridging visa (A, B, or
    C).
  • Applicants must have worked for their nominating employer for at least 3 years,
    with exemptions available in certain cases.
Regional Employer Sponsored Subclass 494.

Introduced on 16 November 2019, the Subclass 494 Visa addresses skill shortages in regional areas of Australia by allowing employers to sponsor skilled workers. This visa is valid for 5 years and offers a pathway to permanent residency through the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) Visa (Subclass 191) after three years, provided the applicant complies with the conditions of the Subclass 494 Visa.
